The upcoming DC Extended Universe film Shazam! Fury of the Gods will bring back Levi’s hero, the one chosen by the ancient wizard, along with his siblings, who now also possess powers. It is expected that they will have to face a bigger threat in the form of Atlas’ daughters. It has already been confirmed that the film has brought Lucy Liu, Helen Mirren, and Rachel Zegler on board, with Mirren and Liu confirmed as Hespera and Kalypso respectively. Zegler’s role is still unconfirmed, but fans assume that she will portray the role of the third sister.

The film’s official Twitter account shared the teaser, and confirmed that “Shazam! Fury of the Gods is headed to San Diego Comic-Con on July 23.” The 17-second teaser is mostly shrouded in darkness, with Levi’s Shazam making a brief appearance. The video begins with some closeup shots of the hero’s new costume, followed by Levi saying, “Wassup, it’s me again…. Just being a tease.” Fans never get a good look at his new appearance in the much-awaited flick, and it is assumed by many that new footage from the Shazam! sequel, or even possibly a trailer, will be shown at Comic-Con.

Levi also posted a selfie video on his Instagram account confirming the Comic-Con panel. In the video, the actor shares his excitement at being a part of the convention “on the morning of July the 23rd in the beloved Hall H.” Due to the ongoing pandemic, several in-person events over the past two years have had to be canceled, and San Diego Comic-Con was one of the casualties. With the event coming back this year, fans and artists are equally excited. Levi reveals that a lot “will be unveiled that morning,” and urges fans who are unable to attend to “stay tuned” as well, confirming that anything that is released during the panel will drop on the internet pretty soon. “Can’t wait to hang with all of your bright & shining faces!” reads the caption.

Shazam! Fury of the Gods brings back the entire cast, including Asher Angel as the protagonist Billy Batson. Shazam! premiered in theaters in April 2019 and was appreciated by both fans and critics for its humorous tone. A sequel was confirmed the same year, but it has faced a lot of delays due to the ongoing pandemic. The release date was changed many times, with the latest change being made to make way for James Cameron’s Avatar sequel.

Shazam! Fury of the Gods is scheduled to premiere in theaters on December 21, 2022.
