The primary conceit for this new program, however, is less about giving fans a demo of Skull and Bones, and instead focuses on making sure that player suggestions direct the game towards success at launch. So, any fan looking to play early builds and give constructive feedback is being encouraged to sign up for a chance to jump into this upcoming Insider Program.

This new Insider Program will allow players to play early builds of Skull and Bones and give feedback directly to Ubisoft about the direction that development is currently taking. In addition to the direct feedback, Ubisoft is also looking to collect data from these test players in order to see what clicks best with fans as they continue to dive into the activities that rise to the top as most popular. Considering that Ubisoft is happy with Skull and Bones’ development, this could be a sign that the game might not be ready for release, but is still in a playable and enjoyable state.

For the moment, Ubisoft is keeping the group of players relatively small, although fans can sign up to participate at the time of this writing to join this select set of testers. Any players chosen to join will have full access to the current build of Skull and Bones, giving Ubisoft insight to how fans will engage with the game when playing without restrictions. This does mean that Ubisoft is looking for committed fans, however, and that the developer will strictly protect what the play testers will be seeing through codes of conduct and a Non Disclosure Agreement.

Looking at how long Skull and Bones has been in development, this type of player feedback could go a long way towards getting the game ready for release. Crowdsourcing this testing to players who are already excited to get a chance to play the game could give Ubisoft the data that the developer needs to finally get the title off the ground. So, fans still waiting to see Skull and Bones finally launch may want to check out this opportunity at both an early look at the game and to give feedback.

Skull and Bones is set to release in 2023 for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
