As seen in the video below, Spider-Man fans can get their latest gander at the Marvel superhero in action, with the majority of its run time focusing how Peter Parker gets around the city. Players who manage to become adept with the character will be able to soar through the streets and past the Big Apple’s iconic skyscrapers with a fluid set of web-based traversal skills. What’s more, the footage highlights the various aerial maneuvers one can chain together for both the purposes of style and to gain additional XP.
Combat is also on display, as Spider-Man can be seen speedily disarming enemies in moving cars through the use of what appear to be quick-time mechanics, and in battle segments reminiscent to those in the Batman Arkham series. There’s no doubt that Insomniac took cues from Rocksteady’s interpretation of how the Dark Knight would fight in ground floor situations, but Spider-Man appears to be able to capitalize on what’s already there by emphasizing the Marvel hero’s strengths and abilities like supernaturally fast reflexes, high flying acrobatics, and of course, the Web Shooter.
Toward the end of the Spider-Man clip, fans can get a preview of the boss fight with the villain Wilson “Kingpin” Fisk. This encounter won’t be much of a surprise for fans, though, for not only is he one of Spidey’s longest running adversaries, but also a video leaked recently that showed off the boss battle.
All things acknowledged, it’s completely understandable as to why Spider-Man is being considered by many as one of the most highly anticipated games of 2018, as it looks like Insomniac has put in a lot of effort to ensure the character makes a stellar debut in his first solo venture on the PS4.
Spider-Man is set to release on September 7, 2018 for PlayStation 4.
