In an email to Kotaku, a Microsoft representative stated that:

While the News Channel on the Wii hasn’t been a breakout success like Wii Sports, it allowed users to view the news right from their console. It just felt cumbersome. It will be interesting to see how this news client will work on the Xbox though. With some of the largest news publications backing this move, it is quite apparent that Microsoft has faith that this news platform has the potential to succeed.

Moving away from the news though, Microsoft has something up their sleeves that is bound to make downloading content for music games less of a hassle. In the same email, it was stated that Xbox Live will receive dedicated music stores for various music games in the next update. Now, you will be able to download songs for your favorite rhythm games in the background without having to watch as the progress bar slowly nears 100%. That means less time sitting in menus, and more time playing the actual game.

With the addition of these two features, you can expect your Xbox Live experience to be even more streamlined and simple, giving you even more reasons never to leave your console. In addition, Microsoft has also hinted that there are even more features they have yet to announce for this update.

What feature would you most like to see in a future Xbox Live update?
