The survival horror genre has seen plenty of innovation throughout the past few generations with games pushing the genre into new settings and styles. Dead Space brought the horror into a sci-fi setting while others like The Last of Us place a heavy emphasis on the storytelling and characters. Survival horror has even become a popular theme for online multiplayer games in recent years with the success of games like Dead by Daylight and Friday the 13th. Spiral Bound Interactive’s debut game looks to bring survival horror back to its Resident Evil-inspired roots.

Spiral Bound Interactive officially revealed You Will Die Here Tonight on Thursday with a trailer showing off the game’s mix of isometric 2D adventure gameplay and arcade-style shooting segments. Players will traverse the Breckenridge Estate as an elite police force looking to track down a dangerous killer. The trailer shows off a variety of puzzle elements that harken back to early Resident Evil games with the shooting segments and art style clearly taking inspiration from the classic Capcom IP.
Where You Will Die Here Tonight looks to stand out from the pack comes with the nature of its character-based gameplay. The game features six unique playable characters with different skills for players to work with. The trailer shows off how a player dying with a particular character can impact their gameplay with others, causing those dead characters to re-appear as zombies or have an impact on the in-game world. The reveal concludes with a release window, revealing You Will Die Here Tonight is set to launch in Fall 2022 through Steam.
You Will Die Here Tonight looks to be a uniquely retro-inspired survival horror game in a genre that has gone through significant changes. Alongside high-profile releases like Resident Evil and Dead by Daylight, the genre has also seen plenty of indie games like Greyhill Incident pop up in recent years. Five Nights at Freddy’s also became a viral success following its initial release in 2014, spawning a massive media franchise. You Will Die Here Tonight should serve as an homage to the survival horror genre’s roots when it releases later this year.
You Will Die Here Tonight is scheduled to release in Fall 2022 for PC.
