A lot of Steam users are jumping into Aeternum Island, the fictional island that is the setting for the game. So many, in fact, that New World has seen very high queue times. This put a bit of a damper on the initial excitement surrounding the game’s launch. This hasn’t stopped people from playing, however. According to Steam, New World topped out at 913,634 players recently, reaching the top of the most played games chart, an impressive feat for a new IP.

For players to engage in one of the game’s biggest features, they will need to join a major Company and be picked by the Company’s leaders to participate. Leaders have complete control over who joins Wars and who doesn’t, which will lead to them to play favorites. Players believe one logical solution would be to include more, smaller territories for smaller Companies to fight for as well.

New World is available now on PC.
