RELATED: New World Player Shares Great Gold-Efficient Tip While Leveling

Why New World Could Benefit From World Events and Secret Encounters

Something many MMOs have in common is that players can gather together in a few specific locations and start a world event that makes them fight up to a boss encounter, usually one that drops unique loot or valuable items. This is something many games regularly do to a degree, including titles like The Elder Scrolls Online and World of Warcraft, so it would only make sense for New World to add this sort of content. To be fair, New World does have Corrupted Portals and Invasions that feel somewhat similar to world events, but the scope for each is very different and the engagement required does differ.

A great way to implement world events could be to have them start at specific times in particular places so people know where to look and when. One idea could be to have these fights occur in starting areas where the level of enemies is often between 1 and 25, and then scale the difficulty up in areas with higher level requirement. New World’s endgame is somewhat lacking, and it mainly revolves around Faction Wars or Outpost Rush for PvP and Expeditions or Dungeons for PvE. Having more content with good rewards to look forward to could improve the game’s current state.

Another addition that would greatly benefit New World is secret encounters, more like the ghost ship some players spotted while fishing. While there are diary entries about it, the ship itself cannot be reached because there are no water-traversing ability in the game, and thus it remains a mystery for most. Having more secrets and mysteries like this one would be interesting to see, especially when players have to purposefully trigger the event by following a set of steps.

Mysteries can be fun to stumble upon or read about and then do everything in order to trigger their encounters or rewards. This is something that would bring a community together, making New World players experience the game differently. Ultimately, the game does need those bits of content that wouldn’t seem like much in other MMOs, but could matter now that players need something exciting to hold onto while the storm clears.

New World is available now on PC.
