Like most MMORPGs, New World’s island of Aeternum celebrates its own seasonal events. Most notably, players were recently tasked with exploring icy caves, visiting holiday villages, and collecting winter tokens during the Winter Convergence Festival that ran from December 16th through January 25th. Christmas, Halloween, Thanksgiving, New Year’s Eve, and Valentine’s Day are some of the most common MMORPG holiday themes celebrated everywhere from World of Warcraft’s Azeroth to Final Fantasy XIV’s Eorzea.

This week’s Easter-themed seasonal event in New World is called Rabbits’ Revenge. Corruption has spread to Aeternum’s rabbit population, and adventurers are tasked with hunting them down in return for special rewards. These rewards include Defiled Rabbit’s foot, a consumable that increases luck, Diamond Gypsum, which increases expertise for a chosen gear type, and the Defiled Storage Chest of the Hare, a rare drop that provides extra storage capacity along with a unique Corruption atmosphere for New World’s player housing. These consumable items can only be collected a few times a day, so adventurers won’t be caught up hunting corrupted rabbits all day long. Rabbits’ Revenge will run for two weeks.
Alongside the mini-event, a few fixes have been implemented in this weekly update. Previous versions of the “Saboteur” and “Master of the Tempest” quests have been disabled to make room for their new “solo” alternatives. Solo players still leveling through the story in New World will have a much easier time now that these quests can be completed without having to form a party. In the Tempest’s Heart expedition, exploits have been fixed that allowed players to avoid attacks by going prone, along with Neishatun’s AI occasionally breaking. A fix for gathering was also implemented where high-level elemental plants were failing to drop the correct amount of resources.
New World is available now on PC.
