A series of gold duplication glitches and related exploits have led to a lot of trouble in New World throughout 2021. The developers eventually resorted to disabling server transfers and wealth trading in an attempt to clamp down on the issue. Unfortunately, this decision appears to have led to a lot of frustration in the game’s player base.

The most recent New World patch is adding some small but important changes to the MMORPG’s endgame portion. Specifically, the developers have fixed an issue that was causing unclear communication on how players could unlock higher Mutator difficulties. Now, although difficulties 1 - 5 still state Silver rank is required, difficulty 6 - 10 will now inform players that Gold rank is required. The team also fixed an issue that prevented players who had umbral shards in storage from upgrading any equipment while storage was open.
This week’s patch also comes with a number of more general fixes and updates. One of New World’s many weapons, the Absolute Terror Legendary gauntlet item, has had its second Keen perk replaced with a Refreshing perk. Next, the developers report fixing an issue that could cause players in PvP to enter a state where movement speed could be adjusted wrongly for long periods of time. They also addressed a second issue that could leave the same player listed multiple times on the War/Invasion roster list. These issues may not seem particularly glaring, but fixing them could lead to an overall smoother gameplay experience.
Additionally, a number of changes have been made to the hatchet, one of New World’s most solid weapons. According to the patch notes, the developers have fixed three problems related to the hatchet and its abilities. The first issue was causing the On Fire passive to provide an escalating damage boost to critical hits. The second issue, which appears to be more negative, caused the On Fire passive to not trigger a guaranteed critical hit on every third attack. The third issue led to DoT damage resetting the hits of the Accumulating Power passive, which in turn prevented it from being consistently triggered.
New World is available now on PC.
