New World first started hosting its Public Test Realm back in November 2021, two months after it was first released. Given that New World was riddled with issues and bugs, having the player community test upcoming content and features would provide the devs with plenty of valuable feedback. This does not mean that all bugs would be addressed by the Public Test Realm, but it would definitely help the development team determine its next steps and priorities when it comes to content updates....

On the official Xbox Game Pass Twitter, the ad depicts a young gamer playing Sea of Thieves with a DualShock 4 controller. Along with it is a caption with an obvious homage to the Nickelback meme of the song “Photograph.” Xbox’s unique take on the lyrics points out the fact the controller in the ad is from a different brand. This move confirms that Microsoft’s cloud gaming service supports PlayStation controllers, which can only widen its customer base....

For the uninitiated, Microsoft allows users to complete Microsoft Rewards quests along with Xbox Game Pass quests to get Microsoft Rewards points. These points can then be redeemed for a variety of things, including Game Pass subscriptions. Kinect 2.0 launched with gesture controls that allowed users to navigate their Xbox One dashboards using their hands. With Kinect plugged in, they could scroll through screens, select items on the dashboard and even open notifications. But in an interview with Windows Central, Xbox’s director of platform management Mike Ybarra says that this has been nixed: “When we looked at the New Xbox One Experience we wanted to prioritize features that customers were asking for, plus areas of improvement from the existing Xbox One UI…The usage was very, very low”....

Microsoft has officially announced the Electric Volt and Daystrike Camo Xbox Series X controllers, joining the previously revealed Shock Blue and Pulse Red controllers. The Xbox Series X Electric Volt controller uses “yellow resin” to create a color that hasn’t been used for Xbox hardware in the past. It comes with all the bells and whistles as any other Xbox Series X controller and will be available to purchase for $64....

Fire department officials have been holding virtual meetings with staff, encouraging them to get vaccinated before fire stations and ambulances lose critical staff. Without these crucial workers, 20 percent of fire stations are expected to close, and there will be fewer ambulances and police on the streets. Mayor Bill de Blasio held firm, even as the city’s largest police union protested and went to an appeals court to stop the mandate, and firefighters rallied Thursday outside de Blasio’s home....

The supervised injection sites were added to locations where existing syringe exchange programs were. The sites were open Tuesday, City Health Commissioner Dr. Dave Chokshi said. The facilities will “bring people in from the streets, improving the life for everyone involved,” he said. New Zealand reported four new cases of the virus on Tuesday, with an additional 14 cases being reported on Thursday. Eagle eyed fans have noticed that the former PlayStation Studio Head, Michael Mumbauer may have revealed some hints as to the future of Sony’s biggest IPs. According to his LinkedIn profile, Mumbauer worked as a Studio Head with a new team located in San Diego until November 2020. In his description of his work there, Mumbauer confirmed that not only did he build a “brand new, all-star, AAA Action/Adventure development team for PlayStation” but that the team was “assembled to expand upon existing franchises and craft all new stories for the next generation of gamers....
